How do you repair a stripped thread on a trumpet valve cap?
I bought a used trumpet (mint condition) for school. I saw that it needed oil so i oiled the first one......no problem. I oiled the second one and saw at the rim of the trumpet valve insert.........im talking about the tubular thing that u put the valve in to play........nothing is wrong with the second valve but the cylinder thing that you can take the valve in and out of is dented at the rim. So i thought that i can bend it back using needle nose plyers.....BAD IDEA.....it ended up stripping the threads on the cylinder thing. The valve itself will go in the hole but the cap to secure the valve on the cylinder thing wont screw on. Should I take it to a music shop to see if they can fix it? Or is there a CHEAP way to get it fixed at home. The same thing happend to my friend and he just forced the cap on.....Should i do the same??? PlZZZ Help
