What should I do about my driver's side mirror?
So, somebody hit my driver's side mirror and broke it. I don't know who it was, it was just broken when I came outside.
The actual mirror setting itself is NOT broken, not even loose or anything like that. It's only the actual mirror glass itself that is broken. I didn't even bother calling my car insurance company about it, because I have a $250 deductible so this wouldn't even be covered.
Do you think I can replace the mirror myself or should I get it done professionally? My grandfather who used to fix cars told me that I could get this acrylic mirror stuff that comes in a sheet and just cut it to size, but I don't know how well that will work so I am asking.
Any advice would be great. Thanks.

the sheet stuff works kinda, but its not very shiny
you can order the glass only from the internet

its inexpensive but the shipping is usually more than the glass
its already the right size
just silicone it right over the existing glass, if you try to remove the old glass you can damage the motors inside
you can get ticket for a broken mirror, the sheet stuff is faster, but get glass, its better
