can flux be use with silver rod brazing refrigerant line sets?
I wouldn't use soldering flux. A special flux for brazing is available, but I don't find it necessary. If you clean the copper well and get the joint nice and hot, the alloy will nicely flow and get sucked right in the joint. The key to a good braze joint is to get the fitting nice and hot and don't be stingy with the rod. I know the stuff isn't cheap, but I can't tell you how many times I have seen a joint fail because it wasn't properly filled in with alloy.
